Clinics & Services

Being a typical small rural practice we try to provide all the services you would expect. These include:

    • General Medical Services: diagnose and treat diseases and refer to a specialist if needed

    • Chronic condition reviews: keeping a check on chronic illnesses like diabetes, hypertension, asthma and others. We plan to invite you at least once a year for a review in the month of your birthday

    • Child health checks and vaccinations

    • Antenatal care, in association with the Islay midwives

    • Contraception and cervical smears

    • Travel health: please note that some vaccinations and malaria pills are NOT available on the NHS, but can be provided privately

    • Minor surgery

    • Annual influenza vaccination and COVID vaccinations

    • Drug monitoring: blood tests for certain drugs like warfarin, rheumatology medication and cancer drugs

    • Minor Injuries: can be treated on Jura. There is an A&E department at Islay and Jura Hospital

    • Out of Hours care: At evenings, weekends and Public Holidays, contact NHS24 on 111 for advice. In an emergency, always ring 999

    • Palliative care: looking after you at home if you are terminally ill

    • Medical examinations for insurance or driving. Please note these normally incur a charge.
